EUDR
Read about how Bergene Holm AS is committed to complying with the EU Deforestation Regulation.
About the EUDR
The EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) is an EU regulation aimed at reducing global deforestation and forest degradation. The regulation requires that certain products and raw materials commonly associated with deforestation meet specific traceability and due diligence requirements in order to be placed on, or exported from, the EU market. Wood is one of the commodities covered by the EUDR.
Bergene Holm and the EUDR
Bergene Holm is committed to complying with the EU Deforestation Regulation 2023/1115 (EUDR), which will enter into force on December 30, 2025. It will be necessary to begin the exchange of EUDR reference information well in advance of this date to ensure that goods produced before the end of 2025 can still be placed on the EU market once the regulation takes effect.
The EU has recently announced a potential postponement of the EUDR implementation to December 30, 2026. Bergene Holm AS will continue implementing its compliance measures as planned, regardless of this proposed delay.
Requirements for Our Suppliers
Bergene Holm requires that all suppliers of product groups covered by the EUDR comply with the regulation’s requirements, including:
-
Products must be deforestation-free, meaning they cannot originate from land that was deforested after December 31, 2020.
-
Products must be produced in accordance with applicable national legislation in the country of production.
-
Products must be covered by a due diligence statement confirming that these requirements are met.
Our suppliers must provide the necessary documentation, including geolocation data and/or EUDR reference information, as part of their deliveries to Bergene Holm. At a minimum, this information must be included at the delivery note level.
Deliveries to Our Customers
Bergene Holm will ensure that all deliveries of EUDR-relevant products to our customers include the required EUDR reference and documentation.
Together with other companies in the forest and wood industry, Bergene Holm is developing an IT solution for the digital exchange of EUDR information. This work is progressing according to plan. The first version of the system will be completed during autumn 2025, and the technical details required to implement the system will be published as soon as they are ready.
